The Gambia’s WAFU team returns to Banjul mid-week

The Gambia’s Junior Scorpions will land at Banjul international airport on Wednesday Sept 13th from Ghana were the team exited from the WAFU tournament following a controversial penalty award to hosts Ghana that eventually eliminated the Gambia from the 16 Nations Championship.

The Gambia Football Federation over the weekend swiftly reacted to the outcome of the game and described the central referee’s decision as biasness and unprofessional-ism. The GFF has further sent a formal protest to WAFU through the Chairman of the Organizing Committee lodging our bitter complaint which is as well copied to Secretaries General of all participating countries and by extension to WAFU Secretary General and CAF.

The Gambian team would be picked up at the Banjul international airport on Wednesday afternoon by Senior Officials of the Football Federation.

The team and Officials are currently in Takoradi with heads held up high. The lads are said to be in high spirits and still maintain their composure.
