FiBank, the proud sponsors of The Gambia Football Federation’s most prestigious Summer Football Championship, the Super Nawettan, have finalised arrangements ahead of the official kick-off of the country’s most watched community football.
Under the watchful eyes of the Football Federation, the 2017 edition of the FiBank Super Nawettan will showcase 14 Nawettan Zones with Foni and Kombo East as new entrants to the existing 12 zones regularly taking part in the Zonal championship.
The balloting and presentation of items has been conducted with the tournament kicking off on the 15th October at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Super Nawettan Organising Committee (SNOC) Chairman Lang Tombong TAMBA and members said they envisage a highly contested and hitch free tournament. The committee maintains that rules and regulations of the tournament would be applied to the latter while emphasising on the maintenance of peace, discipline, game-spirit and good sportsmanship. ‘We are very thankful to FiBank for coming to sponsor again for the third time thi s tournament. But let me tell you that even if there are ten military Generals and without the cooperation of the general public, there cannot be peace and so all of us should collaborate for the maintenance of peace’.
GFF 2nd VP Ebou FAYE added, ‘ The GFF will support the Super Nawettan Committee all the way. You should apply the rules to the letter because this tournament is for the players and we should not encourage any forms of violence’.
Pa OUSMAN Ndow, Snr Manager Banking at FiBank revealed, ‘We as a bank are conscious of our corporate responsibility and Super Nawettan being one of the biggest products of the GFF we decided to come on board and partner with them. We will give each zone preparatory cost of D10,000’.
Fatoumata Bojang speaking on behalf of the Fans club assured the organisers and FiBank of their resolve to maintain peace and to live the spirit of good sportsmanship and to have a violent free tournament.
Modou Njie of Sere Kunda East thanked FIBank for the sponsorship package and continued support to Nawettan football.
Kick off Sunday 15th October, 2017 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4:30pm. The First International Bank are the exclusive sponsors of the tournament. The current champions are Gunjur who overcame Banjul in the 2016 final.
The 2017 FIBANK SUPER NAWETTAN Organizing Committee is chaired by RTD Lieutenant General Lang Tombong Tamba and assisted by GFF ExCO Member Alagi Faye. The Committee will be responsible for all essential logistics for the successful conduct of the tournament and besides any other matter relating to Super Nawettan while the GFF will serve as an oversight body.
