GFF President Boosts Players’ Association

The President of the Gambia Football Federation Lamin Kabba Bajo, has made a D10,000 pledge to the newly formed Gambia Football Players’ Association at the association’s first congress, held on Saturday 28th October 2017 at the Friendship Hostel hall in Bakau. The donation which was well received by the players and will help in establishing the new association’s bank account and its quest to support and protect the rights of the football players in the country.

At the event which was attended by football players from the various league divisions (both male and female), saw the election of a new executive committee for the association, which involves existing players from the leagues, with Hawks FC’s Pierre Gomez been elected as the President unopposed, while from the women’s league, Interior FC’s Adama Cham was elected as first Vice-President. Brikama United’s John Bass was also elected the second Vice-President and Dodou Janko of Young Africans as Secretary General of the association.

According to the GFF President, this was a momentous development in the history of Gambian Football. ‘For the first time in history that we are converging here to a Congress to form a Football players’ association. The matter has been conceived by my Executive since we came into Office in 2014 but has not been put into fruition until today’. He added that the Association is a very important structure of the GFF and will also be able to vote in The Gambia Football Federation’s elections.
