GFF Outlines Support to Clubs for CAF Inter-Club Competitions

The Gambia Football Federation has on Tuesday January 23rd met with team Officials of Hawks FC and GAF ahead of both local sides’ CAF Continental challenges.

The two teams visited the Office of the GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo at Football House in Kanifing who disclosed a handsome package as the GFF’s contribution towards the successful first leg and eventual progression of the teams in both the Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions.

GAF, as League champions, will face Zanaco FC of Zambia while FF Cup Winners Hawks FC takes on Akwa United of Nigeria. The first legs of the teams’ Preliminary stages will be in February away for both teams, before the return legs at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Mr Bajo disclosed that the Gambia Football Federation will supplement as its contribution D250,000 to each of the clubs in the first stage (Preliminary) round while another D250,000 would be added during each of the teams’ next phase after the away and home preliminary series.

According to Mr Bajo, the GFF will further take charge of each of the team’s local accommodation at the Football Hotel in Yundum on full board and will as well finance the indemnities of the match Officials during the home legs.

This according to the GFF will sum up a total of a Million Dalasi if both Hawks and GAF progresses to the next stage of their CAF contests.
Officials of GAF and Hawks thanked the GFF for such a magnanimous contribution and described the gesture as unprecedented. They both promised to do well in the various championships as they continue to prepare well ahead of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
